Resolution or disillusion?

Resolution or disillusion?

A new year has arrived – a blank slate, good intentions, new ideas. Have you made New Year’s Resolutions for your Event Work in 2017?

If so, they probably include trying out some of the new things that we talk about in the meetings industry these days: hybrid meetings, participant involvement, new catering styles, experience management tools….right?

Now is as good a time to try out this ‘future of meetings’ as any, so why not just jump into it – head first!

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you can gain inspiration to update your meeting form from some of the numerous articles, blog posts, video guides, etc. that are readily available online. You could start here at (in my humble opinion), or you could check out VilvordeTalks – a blog magazine and innovation lab for enhancing the culture of meetings (in Danish only) – where I’m a contributor.

And if you do know what I’m talking about but just haven’t started acting on it yet, 2017 is the year to do differently in meetings. I can feel it :o)

However, beginnings can be tough, and some of these new approaches to meetings are still taking their baby steps, so don’t be disillusioned if the result doesn’t turn out the way you wanted it to. Practice makes perfect, as they say, and all of the ideas mentioned above (and many more new ways of doing meetings) are here to stay, so just keep trying until you obtain the result you wanted. You won’t regret it! And you know, being a first mover might be tough, but it’s rewarding too…and kind of nice to be on top of the World when others follow.

So, what are your Event New Year’s Resolutions this year?
